Housing Plus, alongside Molonglo Support Services, is proud to announce the opening of a new purpose-built Core and Cluster refuge in Queanbeyan, delivering safe accommodation and specialist support for women and children escaping domestic and family violence.
Funded through the NSW Government’s $426.6 million Core and Cluster program, the refuge comprises six self-contained units — a mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom configurations — alongside a central ‘core’ facility. Every unit includes a private kitchen, bathroom, laundry, outdoor space and provisions for pets, giving residents the comfort and dignity they deserve as they begin to rebuild their lives.
The facility has been thoughtfully designed to welcome all families. One unit is fully wheelchair accessible, shared spaces support those with restricted mobility, and the core building features indoor and outdoor play areas for children, communal gathering spaces, a BBQ area, and a dedicated yarning circle to support cultural healing and connection.
Housing Plus has partnered with local organisation Molonglo Support Services to deliver on-site specialist support, ensuring residents can access the wrap-around care they need under one roof.
