Raising funds to Support Women and Children Impacted by Domestic Violence
On Saturday 21st May Housing Plus will again be hosting the White Tie Ball. Each year the White Tie Ball raises funds for the women and children who will be staying with us at The Orchard.
The Orchard Orange provides safe, purpose-built accommodation specifically for women and their children who are escaping domestic and family violence where they have access to vital support services that assist them to recover from trauma. Most staying at The Orchard arrive with nothing, and the proceeds from the White Tie Ball will provide clothing, food, household and everyday items they need to start again as well as immediate and direct access to an on-site counsellor who supports their mental and emotional well-being.
We are joined by the Central Western Daily as an event partner for the night and we all look forward to welcoming the Orange Community as we come together to raise much needed funds for the on-going provision of support for these women and children. “We are delighted that the Central Western Daily is again partnering with us for the White Tie Ball, their support and the work of our local tireless Volunteer Fundraising Committee ensures this will be another successful event.” said David Fisher, CEO.
The Orchard began taking clients just over 12 months ago and has been in high demand ever since. “We are thrilled that the Orchard is able to support women and children escaping domestic and family violence with specialist accommodation, facilities and services. The on-going fundraising will help us to provide additional resources and support for clients to achieve their goals and to ultimately thrive in the community” says Penny Dordoy, Head of Community Services, Housing Plus.
The event on Saturday 21 May will be held at the Orange Ex-Services Club commencing at 6pm and will include a 3-course meal, live charity auction and raffles. We encourage our community to join us for a great night for a good cause, dance the night away with local DJ Bennyandthedecks and we have the honour of being joined by two amazing comedians.
Our MC for the evening Lizzy Hoo is many things, – a writer, noodle enthusiast, designer, ideas lady, actor, rugby lover, and rescue greyhound owner. Lizzy is also a stand-up comedian who has experienced a meteoric rise to become one of Australia’s most exciting new voices.
