Applications for CHIA’s 2026 Cadetship Program are now open!

We are thrilled to announce that applications for the Community Housing Industry Association’s (CHIA) Cadetship Program are now open and Housing Plus are seeking applicants located in Mudgee, Bathurst or Orange. 

 

This ‘earn and learn’ opportunity allows participants to complete 12 months of employment with Housing Plus while earning a Certificate IV in Housing. 

 

Employment will commence in February 2026, with applications closing on 4th December 2025. 

 

The Cadetship Program is open to residents of NSW who meet any of the following criteria: 

  • Unemployed young people aged 20-24 years (whether connected to social housing or not) 
  • Adults (25+) who are social housing clients (tenants, waitlist, those receiving private rental assistance, and those living in crisis/supported accommodation) 
  • People who are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander 
  • People living with disability (those who have one or more physical, mental, intellectual, neurological, or sensory impairments or conditions) 
  • Refugees and migrants (those facing barriers to employment due to English being a second language, cultural differences, or prejudice) 

 

This program offers numerous benefits, including the opportunity to gain a qualification and on-the-job experience, all while getting paid! 

 

Key dates: 

  • Applications Now Open 
  • Applications Close: 4th December 2025 
  • Face to face interviews: 10 December to 30 January 2026 
  • Notification of Successful Cadets: 3-16 February 2025 
  • Employment Commencement: 16 February 2026.
