On Thursday, April 2nd, the Hon. Minister Jenny Aitchison, Member for Maitland, turned the first soil on a new women’s domestic violence refuge in Maitland. Jenny was joined by Maria Woods, Director of DFV and Community Services (Housing Plus) and Jayne Clowes, CEO (Carrie’s Place) for the event.
Under the NSW Government’s Core and Cluster Program, Housing Plus was awarded $6.4 million to deliver the refuge, which will provide eight units of crisis accommodation for women and children escaping violence.
Our partnership with Carrie’s Place brings together our design and construction expertise with their deep local experience in service delivery, and we look forward to opening the doors together early in 2027.
